They also seek to grow national leadership in the industry by hosting educational forums, celebrating excellence through media awards and providing useful tools and information to educators.

Cable Positive was founded in 1992 by three cable industry executives who wanted to mobilize and utilize the many talents, resources and influences of the cable and telecommunications industry to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS. The group seeks to support education, prevention and care and to forever end the stigma attached to those whose lives have been impacted by HIV or AIDS. They seek to meet their goals through many national programs, events and awards.

The Cable Hope Fund was created in the aftermath of the devastating hurricanes of 2005. The cable industry immediately established the fund to assist in the many rebuilding efforts and to aid the many displaced families and individuals. The fund mobilized cable company and employee contributions towards the efforts of other agencies including Habitat for Humanity and Oxfam America. Today the group continues their efforts and works to support all victims of natural disasters and to assist in long-term rebuilding efforts of communities.
The cable industry also participates in hundreds of public affairs initiatives at the state and local level within the communities they serve.

Clearly the entire cable industry understands that strong and healthy communities are the key to financial stability and a growing customer base. They make it clear that they are willing to take corporate responsibility and corporate citizenship seriously, investing industry capital in the social and economic improvements of the regions, areas and communities they are serving.
