Choosing the best flat screen LCD TV is not as difficult as you think. Sure, when you read about TV's it seems like you need a degree in electrical engineering. But it's really not all that hard. You need to buy the right size set for the room your placing it in. You probably want the best set you can buy for your budget. You need to consider the resolution you want. Also, do you want LCD or plasma? Understanding a few of these considerations will make you feel like a much more informed buyer. So, let's see what it takes to choose the best flat screen LCD TV.

First off, you want to set a budget. TV's range in price from a few hundred dollars to well over $3,000. Price is mainly determined by the screen size and resolution, but also by the quality of the set.

The next thing you want to consider is the size of the set. Most sets range in size from 15 inches up to 57 inches and larger. Smaller sets, 15 - 19 inches, are suitable for office use or for kitchen you. Probably too small for your bedroom. Medium-sized sets are great for bedrooms, while larger sets need a larger room to accommodate them.

Closely related to size is resolution. Resolutions come in two flavors 720 and 1080. You often see them as 720p or 1080i or 1080p. The letters stand for how the signal to the television is interlaced (or not). Although you might be tempted to spring for the higher resolution, there are plenty of really good sets whose resolution is 720p. So, don't think the best flat screen LCD TV has to have 1080p resolution.

Major manufacturers are Sony, Panasonic, Samsung, Vizio, and Westinghouse, among others. Although you can find low prices at bargain stores, shopping online for your TV makes a lot of sense. For one thing, unless the TV is small, you'll need to have it delivered, anyway. So, why not go online and get a better deal?

Should you get an LCD as opposed to a plasma? Well, the scales seem to be tipping more and more toward getting an LCD.

LCD TV's are lighter, so they can easily be hung on the wall. They also don't have a problem with burn-in (the burning in of a static image on the screen. The blacks on currently LCD TV's are good.

Another thing of importance, if you're looking for the best flat screen LCD TV, is the fact that the screens of LCD TV's are not as reflective as plasma screens. This means you can use the TV in a well-lit room, and also that it's easier for people to see, if they're not right in front of the screen.
